Cores
Core A: Analytical and Pharmacokinetics
Core Investigator: William Zamboni, Pharm. D, Ph.D.
This Core will perform in vitro and in vivo pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamic studies of nanocarrier formulations of siRNA, platinum-analogues and taxane analogues. These studies will include pharmacokinetic studies of encapsulated, released and sum total (encapsulated + released) drug in plasma, tumor, and tissues and intracellular drug exposures. The core is also developing a high throughput screening platform to characterize and profile the interaction of nanoparticle agents and the mononuclear phagocyte system (MPS).
Core B: Targeting Ligand
Core Investigator: Rihe Liu, Ph.D.
The Core provides novel targeting ligands that can be used to direct nanoparticles to particular cancer cell types for Projects 1, 2, and 3.
Core C: Animal Imaging
Core Investigators: Weill Lin, Ph.D., Hong Yuan, Ph.D., and Dinggang Shen, Ph.D.
The Core provides novel non-invasive imaging approaches for determining bio-distribution other proposed nanoparticles and monitoring disease progression and therapeutic efficacy. In addition, image analysis tools will be developed to provide quantitative measures of biological parameters.
